Mrs. Black
Hello, Hola, Salam Alaikum, Xin chào, and welcome to York International!
My name is Shannon Black and I love teaching kindergarten at York International! I’m also a Mapleton Mom and my children attend school here. We love our warm and family-oriented school community and find so much joy in being part of Mapleton! As an educator, my journey began in 1989 as a kindergartener at Salk Elementary School in Mesa, Arizona. I have always loved learning at school and had the goal of becoming a teacher early on in life. I graduated from Brigham Young University – Idaho in 2006 and continued my education as a literacy specialist through Idaho State University. I have taught for 18 years in grades K-3 as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist, and online. My all-time favorite job is working with kindergarteners and fostering a love for learning about our world with joy and curiosity. I love partnering with families to help your children get the best possible start to their education and look forward to helping York youngsters grow for many years to come!
Mrs. Parker
Hi, and welcome to York International. My name is Carrie Parker, I am so excited to be teaching here at York. This is such a new and interesting time for kids, everything is new and exciting to them. It is my hope to foster that love and curiosity of learning in your child. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn and I will make that journey of learning and discovery an exciting one. Although I am new to Mapleton schools, I have taught Kindergarten/First Grade for over 25 years here in Colorado. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Sociology/Psychology and in 2004 my Masters's Degree from the University of Phoenix. I have discovered that the truly magical part of my job is watching the kid's faces when they discover they are capable of so many wonderful and amazing things.
